theme of Moses killing the Egyptian, drawn from Book of Exodus (especially Exodus 2). I’ll keep it faithful to the text and centered on a strong spiritual message.
Title: When God Uses Imperfect People
Introduction
Today, we look at a surprising moment in the life of Moses.
Before he became a great deliverer, Moses made a serious mistake—he killed an Egyptian.
This shows us something powerful:
👉 God’s plan is not stopped by human failure.
1. A Hidden Beginning (Exodus 2:1–3)
Moses was born at a dangerous time. Pharaoh had ordered Hebrew baby boys to be killed.
But his mother hid him and placed him in a basket on the Nile.
Moses was preserved by God
His life had a purpose from the beginning
👉 Lesson: Even when life starts in difficulty, God’s hand is already at work.
2. A Wrong Action (Exodus 2:11–12)
As Moses grew, he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew slave.
The Bible tells us:
He looked around
He killed the Egyptian
He hid the body
This was not God’s way.
Moses tried to bring justice in his own strength, and it led to sin.
👉 Lesson:
Good intentions don’t justify wrong actions
Acting without God can lead to regret
3. Consequences and Running Away (Exodus 2:13–15)
The next day, Moses realized his action was known.
Pharaoh sought to kill him, and Moses fled to the wilderness.
From a prince → to a fugitive
From the palace → to the desert
👉 Lesson: Sin has consequences, and sometimes we run from our mistakes.
4. God Doesn’t Give Up on Moses
Even in the wilderness, God was not finished with Moses.
Years later, God appears to him in the burning bush and calls him to deliver Israel.
👉 The same Moses who failed…
became the one God used to lead His people out of Egypt.
5. The Message for Us
This story is not just about Moses—it’s about us.
We all have moments where:
We act wrongly
We fail
We regret our choices
But here is the good news:
👉 God still calls, forgives, and uses broken people.
Through Jesus Christ, we receive:
Forgiveness
Restoration
A new purpose
Conclusion
Moses’ story teaches us:
Failure is not the end
God’s purpose is greater than our past
What matters is responding when God calls
Closing Challenge
Are you running from something today?
God is not looking for perfect people—He is looking for willing hearts.
Just like Moses, your story is not over.
Optional Closing Prayer
“Lord, thank You that You don’t give up on us. Even when we fail, You still call us. Forgive us, restore us, and use us for Your purpose. Amen.”
