THEME:
“This Is What the King Does for a Man That He Wants to Honour”
(Esther 6:11)
INTRODUCTION
In Book of Esther chapter 6, we see a powerful moment where God turns shame into honor. A man who was forgotten becomes celebrated overnight.
The story centers on Mordecai, a faithful servant, and King Ahasuerus, who represents authority. Behind the scenes, God is orchestrating everything.
SCRIPTURE FOCUS
Esther 6:11
“So Haman took the robe and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and brought him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaimed before him, ‘Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delighteth to honour.’”
–MESSAGE POINTS
1. GOD NEVER FORGETS FAITHFULNESS
Mordecai had once saved the king’s life (Esther 2), but he was not rewarded immediately. Years passed.
Your good works may seem unnoticed, but heaven keeps records.
Delay is not denial.
Lesson: Faithfulness positions you for divine honor.
2. GOD CAN USE YOUR ENEMIES TO HONOUR YOU
It was Haman—the very man who hated Mordecai—who ended up honoring him publicly.
The one planning your downfall may become the instrument of your lifting.
God reverses situations.
Lesson: Don’t fight every battle—God can turn your opposition into promotion.
3. HONOUR COMES FROM THE KING
The honor did not come from people—it came from the king.
When God decides to honor you, no man can stop it.
Divine favor speaks louder than human effort.
Lesson: Seek God’s approval, not human applause.
4. HONOUR IS PUBLIC AND UNDENIABLE
Mordecai was:
Given royal robes
Placed on the king’s horse
Paraded through the city
This was not hidden—it was visible to all.
Lesson: When God honors you, it becomes a testimony others cannot ignore.
5. THE RIGHT TIME OF HONOUR
The king could not sleep that night (Esther 6:1). That sleepless night led to Mordecai’s remembrance.
God can disturb systems just to bless you.
Your moment of honor can come suddenly.
Lesson: Stay ready—your day can come unexpectedly.
APPLICATION
Keep doing good even when unnoticed
Trust God’s timing
Don’t be discouraged by opposition
Remain humble and faithful
PROPHETIC DECLARATION (Optional Closing)
“May God remember your good works.
May those who oppose you become instruments of your elevation.
May you be publicly honored in places where you were once ignored.
In due season, the King will lift you up!”
CONCLUSION
Just like Mordecai, your story is not over. The same God who turned his situation around is still working today.
When the King decides to honor a man, no one can stop it.
